Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Researcher Assistant in the Med – Immunology/Rheumatology lab to provide technical support and perform standard tasks such as sample processing and stimulation of innate immune cells under supervision. The role involves collaboration with researchers, data recording, and routine lab operations.

Responsibilities include processing blood samples, preparing DNA and RNA, and supporting senior staff in executing protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED and two years of related experience required.
• Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
• Experience in DNA and RNA extractions is preferred.
• Experience processing and banking blood samples is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences is preferred.
• Cell culture skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform stimulations of innate immune cells.
• Process incoming blood samples.
• Prepare DNA and RNA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
