Job summary

NYLAG seeks a highly motivated Associate Supervising Attorney for a full-time position in the Immigrant Protection Unit. The attorney will supervise removal defense matters, represent immigrants before USCIS and EOIR, and develop legal strategies to protect clients' asylum and other relief.

Requirements include a Juris Doctorate, New York State bar admission, at least 4 years in removal defense, trauma-informed advocacy, and ability to work under pressure in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required.
• Admission to the New York State bar preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of removal defense experience required.
• Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide substantive supervision on removal defense matters to a team of attorneys.
• Develop legal strategies with clients and staff attorneys for immigration relief.
• Strengthen intake, screening and consultation procedures.
• Maintain a limited individual caseload and represent clients before USCIS and EOIR.
• Participate in outreach events and contribute to staff training.
