Job summary

Abogados W, based in Miami, seeks a Litigation Attorney focusing on immigration court work including Individual and Detained Hearings. The role leads strategy, supports a growing Litigation Department, and mentors junior staff.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed and in good standing with any U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 1–3 years of U.S. immigration litigation experience with EOIR exposure.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and EOIR procedures.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and mentor junior staff.
• Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Proficiency with major legal research platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw).
• Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct Individual Hearings before EOIR.
• Represent clients in detained and non-detained immigration cases.
• Supervise, train, and mentor immigration paralegals and assistants.
• Draft and review asylum applications (I-589), 42B/42A petitions, and adjustments of status before EOIR.
• Handle bond motions and motions to terminate/admin close.
• Perform other immigration filings as needed.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on immigration law and policy changes.

Position Overview

As a Litigation Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in representing immigrants in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and guiding our litigation strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and conduct Individual Hearings before EOIR
• Represent clients in detained and non-detained cases
• Supervise, train, and mentor immigration paralegals and legal assistants
• Draft and review:
• Asylum Applications (I-589)
• 42B and 42A Applications
• Adjustment of Status before EOIR
• Bond Motions
• Motions to Terminate / Admin Close
• Other immigration filings as needed
• Conduct legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration case law and policy changes

Qualifications & Experience

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
• Licensed and in good standing with any U.S. state bar
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in U.S. immigration litigation, with direct EOIR representation experience required
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Immigration Law, EOIR procedures, and federal immigration litigation
• Proven ability to manage complex caseloads, meet deadlines, and mentor junior staff
• Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, and case strategy skills
• Proficiency with legal research platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw)
• Spanish proficiency strongly preferred, but not required
