Job summary

World Relief SoCal seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney to provide direct representation before USCIS, EOIR, and BIA, and to counsel clients on complex immigration options.

The role requires a JD and active bar license, with 3–5 years in Immigration Legal Services, plus strong research, writing, and communication skills to support vulnerable communities. Occasional after-hours events may be required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required and bar licensed.
• 3–5 years Immigration Legal Services experience with relevant roles.
• Strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Experience representing clients before immigration agencies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Screen and advise individuals regarding immigration benefits and remedies under the INA, CFR, and relevant government agency policies
• Provide direct immigration legal representation before USCIS, EOIR, and BIA
• Represent clients in person at USCIS adjudication interviews and EOIR and BIA hearings
• Advocate for clients with relevant government actors by telephone and correspondence
• Manage a caseload of pending immigration cases
• Collaborate with WR SoCal team to provide immigration legal services
• Participate in ongoing immigration training, conferences, and research

Job description

• Screen and advise individuals regarding immigration benefits and remedies under the INA, CFR, and relevant government agency policies
• Provide direct immigration legal representation before USCIS, EOIR, and BIA
• Represent clients in person at USCIS adjudication interviews and EOIR and BIA hearings
• Advocate for clients with relevant government actors by telephone and correspondence
• Manage a caseload of pending immigration cases
• Comply with World Relief SoCal ILS case management rules, policies, procedures, and legal ethics under the ILS Program Manager’s supervision
• Collaborate with WR SoCal team members to provide immigration legal services
• Participate in ongoing immigration legal training, conferences, webinars, roundtables, and research
• Complete Equifax case management training and follow ILS department case management protocols
• Participate in routine ILS and staff meetings
• Support Immigration 101, Know Your Rights, Asylum 101, and related trainings for community partners and immigrant communities
• Participate in practitioner forums
• Communicate with other WR SoCal departments
• Occasionally attend weekend and evening events
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass MVR standards
• Cross-cultural experience, including cross-cultural communication skills

• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills
• Strong self-starter skills and desire to learn and grow
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally, in adjudicatory settings, and in writing
• Juris Doctor (JD) required
• Active bar license required and commitment to attending CLE training and maintaining good standing with the State Bar
• Minimum of 3–5 years of Immigration Legal Services experience, including previous experience as an Immigration Attorney, DOJ Accredited Representative, immigration paralegal, or legal assistant
• Proficiency in MS Office programs
• Database entry skills
