Job summary

Earle B. Wood Middle School in Rockville is seeking a Middle School Team Leader to coordinate and manage the grade level team operations and to facilitate collaboration among teachers across grade level teams.

The role focuses on analyzing grade level and student achievement data to ensure school improvement targets are met, while engaging students and parents and participating on the Leadership Team.

Qualifications

• Holds a master’s degree or is within one year of completion.
• Minimum of three years of outstanding teaching experience; MCPS experience preferred.
• Experience teaching in middle school.
• Meets Maryland middle school certification requirements.

Summary Description

The Middle School team leader has the responsibility for coordinating and managing the operations of a grade level team. The Middle School team leader should be an effective facilitator, have strong interpersonal skills and be committed to collaboration with all stakeholders for the benefit of students. The Middle School team leader focuses on coordination of the grade level instructional program and collaboration among teachers across grade level teams. The Middle School team leader analyzes grade level and individual student achievement data to ensure that school improvement targets are being met. The Middle School team leader promotes and facilitates student and parent engagement. The Middle School team leader participates on the Leadership Team to ensure that all school initiatives are implemented. In order to support these additional responsibilities, they are provided with additional time and compensation. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Job Specific Information

EML co-taught classes. The wage range for this position is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience. • Has had a minimum of three years of outstanding teaching experience, one year of MCPS teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching in middle school.
• Demonstrates excellent skills in working effectively with people.
• Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.SELECTION AND CONTINUANCE OF SERVICE:Shall be selected by the principal and a team that will include teachers from the grade level team. (When the career lattice is implemented, team leaders will have to achieve lead teacher status).

• Certificate License: Meets the appropriate Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a middle school assignment.
