Job summary

Belen Consolidated School District Transportation Department is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to support transportation services in the 2024/2025 school year.

The role requires a NM CDL Class B with appropriate endorsements, a clean driving record, and commitment to student safety. Training and First Aid certification are provided by the district, with immediate starting date and open-ended placement until filled.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid and current New Mexico CDL Class B with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsements. Training Available
• Medical certificate as required by Transportation Division and FMCSA.
• Current First Aid certification – Training provided by district.
• No prior convictions as specified in SDE NM Standards for School Bus Operations.
• Defensive driving knowledge with district training.
• Physical abilities to perform the physical tasks of this position.
• Able to use technology to perform transportation services for department responsibilities.
• Uses effective people skills to communicate.

Responsibilities

• Drive school buses according to routes and schedules.
• Follow district safety policies and FMCSA regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic vehicle condition.
• Record passenger counts and incidents as required.
• Communicate with dispatch and school staff as needed.
