Qualifications

• Massachusetts teaching certification/License 1-6 required.
• Bachelor's degree in education required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Experience teaching grade 1 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers elementary curriculum aligned with district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods for individual needs.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars or professional meetings, or conducting research.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate records-keeping, grading, and reporting as required by district procedures.
• Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Coordinates with staff to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate books and supplies and maintains inventory records.
• Assist with daily duties to ensure student safety.
• Administers standardized tests in accordance with district programs.
