Job summary

Pella Regional Health Center is seeking a radiologic technologist to provide comprehensive mammography and CT imaging services with high quality and patient safety in mind.

The role requires performing screening and diagnostic mammography and CT exams per protocols, collaborating with radiologists, and ensuring accurate documentation and patient communication. This on-site position emphasizes safety, QA, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to MQSA requirements, ACR guidelines, and organizational procedures.
• Obtain technically adequate mammographic images through proper positioning, compression, exposure, and image acquisition.
• Demonstrate proficiency with routine and specialized mammographic views and additional diagnostic views as ordered.
• Assist radiologists with breast imaging procedures and interventions within scope and protocols.
• Prepare patients for breast procedures and provide post-procedure instructions.
• Maintain documentation for mammography examinations and comply with quality control standards.
• Perform routine and specialized CT examinations per established protocols and radiologist direction.
• Review orders and clinical indications to ensure appropriate CT protocol is used.
• Prepare patients for CT, verify history, allergies, renal function, and pregnancy status where applicable.
• Screen patients for contraindications and risks of CT and contrast media.
• Administer intravenous contrast per protocol and ensure proper IV access and injection parameters.
• Operate CT equipment safely, select scan parameters, and perform multiphase, angiographic, or specialized reconstructions as needed.
• Optimize image quality while applying ALARA and minimizing radiation exposure.
• Recognize and respond to contrast reactions, adverse events, and other patient complications.
• Document and transmit images accurately to PACS and other systems.
• Communicate significant patient concerns or findings to the radiologist or provider.
