Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Orthopedic Hospital is seeking an Imaging Technologist I to perform radiographic procedures, ensure patient safety, and support diagnoses. You will train students and technologists, assist with injections, and collaborate with physicians to determine imaging protocols.

The role requires radiology certification and relevant licenses. The position demands proficiency with C‑arm/O‑arm/fluoro, adherence to radiation safety, and patient communication to ensure comfort

Qualifications

  • Radiology certificate or degree required.
  • Indiana radiology license or student permit required.
  • ARRT-R certification required within 1 year of hire.
  • Experience with surgical imaging modalities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7am–5:30pm.
  • Gather patient history to guide procedures and explain safety precautions.
  • Position patient and operate radiology equipment to obtain quality images.
  • Capture X-ray images of tissues, organs and bones for diagnosis.
  • Document reports on patient behavior and machine performance.
  • Maintain and restock examination room supplies.
  • Collaborate with physicians to determine protocols.
  • Assist with radiology accreditation standards (ACR, HFAP, ISBOH, IDPH, IEMA).

The Imaging Technologist I is responsible for performing radiographic procedures, ionizing radiation to render optimum images, which are used to support diagnoses and provide insight into medical issues, concerns or conditions. This position conducts preliminary analysis on images, and collaborates with doctors and other Healthcare professionals to interpret images. This position assists with training students and technologists, and performs injection procedures. The Imaging Technologist I is required to be qualified to care for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The Technologist maintains optimum timeliness, accuracy, proficiency, efficiency, and safety during the execution of duties, and works closely with patients to ensure they understand procedures and are comfortable during procedures.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
  • _ Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7am - 5:30pm_
  • Gather information on patients’ illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy. Explain procedures and safety precautions to patients and answer patient questions. Ensure patients are not exposed to excessive amounts of radiation.
  • Position the patient and equipment correctly to produce results with the best quality. Operate machine properly in order to produce clear imaging results of a patient’s body. Observe the equipment to make sure that it is working properly. Adjusting dials to make sure the machine is set at the proper voltage and radiation levels.
  • Take X-rays of patient’s tissue, organs and bones to evaluate for possible injury or illness.
  • Write detailed reports about the patient’s behavior or any machine malfunctions.
  • Clean, maintain, and restock inventory in examination rooms.
  • Collaborate on patient medical issues with the physician to determine protocol and procedure.
  • Assist with ACR, HFAP, ISBOH, IDPH, and IEMA.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Radiology Certificate required
  • Associate’s Degreepreferred
  • Radiology Student Permit OR Indiana Radiology License required
  • ARRT-R certification required within 1 year of hire
  • Surgery experience with C-arm, O-arm, Fluoro(arthrograms and aspirations), and portables required
