Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Imaging Department is seeking an Imaging Technical Assistant to manage scheduling for patient exams and provide clear exam instructions. You will maintain patient flow, ensure accurate clerical documentation, and assist with safe patient transportation for all ages.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS/PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk
  • A minimum of one year of patient care experience, or accepted into a Radiology Program, or customer related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Knows and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
  • Revenue Management: ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies.
  • Transports and prepares patients maintaining comfort and dignity.
  • Keeps patient history current by data entry of exams and history.
  • Schedules and coordinates events surrounding patient exams.
  • Coordinates inpatient imaging services with the imaging modality.
  • Prepares next day’s schedule to screen and prep for exams.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Other SAHS certifications per Crosswalk

Skills, Knowledge, Education And Experience


  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational/technical-related college courses preferred.

Essential Functions


  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).

  • Revenue Management: ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.

  • Transports and prepares patients maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and changing medical needs.

  • Keeps patient history current by accurate data entry of exams and other patient history as defined by protocol manual, and on-going software training.

  • Schedules and coordinates all events surrounding the successful completion of a patient exam.

  • Coordinates inpatient imaging services with the imaging modality.

  • Prepares next day’s schedule to reassure patient is screened and prepped for next day exam.

  • Maintains knowledge of equipment and supplies to reassure the CT technologists are able to perform their job efficiently and safely.

  • Responds to patient care according to medical center's policies and procedures for patient care including, but not limited to, Code Blue Preparedness, Universal Precautions, Radiation Safety Support and CPR.

  • Monitors multi-modality worklist and coordinates on call teams for after hour exams.

  • Covers other positions within medical imaging areas as appropriate; to include modality assistance, file room responsibilities, and Radiologist liaison.

  • Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work and maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, independent problem solving, and decision-making abilities and can use critical thinking skills.
