Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Radiology Technology Assistant to support imaging procedures and ensure safe, efficient patient care. You will work under modality technologists and managers, preparing rooms, assisting with patient positioning, and maintaining sterile technique across procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS CPR certification, with strong customer service expectations and flexibility to adapt to workflow needs. Primary location is UTMB Galveston facilities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED or equivalent years of education, experience and/or training.
• BLS CPR Certification.
• Strong customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing room for radiologic procedures by ensuring required supplies are available.
• Assists with patient flow within assigned modality setting.
• Responsible for transportation of patients using patient bed, stretcher, or wheelchair as necessary.
• Provides comfort measures to patient.
• Prepares and assists patients undergoing examinations, and procedures to include patient positioning.
• Stocks rooms, carts, cabinets, linen etc. as assigned or requested; demonstrates competence in IV establishment and maintenance.
• Provides and maintains a clean, safe imaging suite and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures and infection control measures.
• Recognizes patient care priorities and manages unexpected or emergent situations.
• Checks equipment and supplies for expiration dates, electrical safety tags, intactness, and usability.
• Reports equipment and supplies needing replacement or repair.
• Consistently models AIDET principles and communicates professionally and courteously.
• Demonstrates productivity and cost containment; prioritizes and completes work efficiently.
• Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and flexibility; reports and seeks assistance with patient complaints and concerns.
