Job summary

UPMC McKeesport is currently hiring a regular, fulltime Imaging Services Tech Assistant to support our Imaging Departments with UPMC. The daylight shift is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm, with occasional Saturday duties from 7:15 am - 11:15 am.

This role provides hands-on technical procedures, quality patient care, and opportunities to grow professionally in both technical and managerial directions. Excellent benefits are offered by UPMC, supporting your development within a team

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Clerical and computer experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Inpatient imaging support and patient care assistance may be required.

• Prepare MRI safety and radiation safety protocols.
• Schedule exams in RIS; notify patients for rescheduling.
• Assist technologist with patient care and workflow.

UPMC McKeesport is currently hiring a regular, fulltime Imaging Services Tech Assistant to mainly work a daylight shift Monday through Friday (8:30 am - 5 pm). The position will also have Saturday responsibility - typically once per month from 7:15 am - 11:15 am.

Purpose:

Provide for the performance of a variety of technical procedures utilizing independent judgment and a basic understanding of technology, anatomy, and physiology. Provide quality patient care in a timely, cost effective manner to aid in medical diagnosis under the supervision of a registered technologist.

Responsibilities:

• Transports patient to and from unit when required.

• Demonstrate proper placement of IV catheter. Demonstrates knowledge of and appropriately follows guidelines for GFR criteria.

• Assists with invasive procedure tray set-up and couriers specimens to lab as needed.

• Practices established MRI safety and radiation safety protocols.

• Accurately schedules exams into RIS as needed. Reschedules exams as needed and contacts patients for additional scanning.

• Assists technologist with patient care/flow as instructed. Knowledgeable of procedural processes.

• Verifies patient identify by utilizing at least two patient identifiers. Effectively prepares patient for exam providing both pre and post procedure education. Documents proper history into electronic record. Reviews physician orders and contacts office if additional information is required.

• Completion of High school diploma or equivalent.

• Requires Clerical and computer experience.

• Requires Communication and interpersonal skills.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

• Act 33 with renewal

• Act 34 with renewal

• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
