Job summary

UPMC seeks a 2nd year radiology student to assist with department workflow and learn the basics of radiology. The role involves rotating days and evenings based on need and availability, with supervision from Radiology staff.

Responsibilities include assisting with exams, equipment inspections, and RIS data entry, while maintaining safety protocols. The position emphasizes active student enrollment in ARRT/ARDMS/CNMT/NMCTB approved programs, BLS/CPR readiness, and compliance with required acts

Qualifications

• Active 2nd year student in ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or NMCTB approved school.

Responsibilities

• Assist Radiologist/Technologist with setup and exams; ensure proper patient positioning and image acquisition under supervision.
• Perform daily equipment checks and participate in quality control under supervision.
• Assist with contrast setup but not injector priming.
• Obtain quality images while following radiation safety standards.
• Enter patient data and schedule exams in RIS.
• Maintain proficiency for completed competencies and equipment skills.

Job description

Will be assisting with department workflow while learning the basics of radiology. Rotating shifts based on need and availability. The schedule is days and evenings based on availability and educational needs.

Must be a 2nd year Radiology student.

Responsibilities:

• Depending on modality, may utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data and completes procedures according to protocol under the supervision of a Radiologist or Technologist.
• May perform daily equipment inspections, warm up procedures and follow Quality Control Program under supervision of a Technologist.
• Assist Radiologist and Technologist setting up contrast; however, will never be responsible for loading or priming the injector.
• Obtain quality images while following radiation safety standards and protocols.
• Assist with positioning and performing exams but should never hold the detector or patients for radiation procedures.
• Arrive patients, track exams, scan scripts, and schedule exams in the Radiology Information Systems.
• Assist Radiologist and Technologist in performing modality specific exams.
• Maintain clinical proficiency for all completed competencies and equipment skills.
• Must be an active 2nd year student in ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or NMCTB approved school.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
