Job Description
As a member of the production team, the primary responsibility of this function is to coordinate and perform activities necessary to ensure quality and efficient make‑ready, run, and clean‑up of imaging equipment. The technical assistant works in a team environment with little supervision, cooperating with others, sharing information, taking initiative to improve processes, and solving problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with all press operations during make‑ready, run, and clean‑up as work processes require: open paper, operate splicers, tape on rolls, web press, hook up and clean ink pumps, monitor ink viscosity, mount and set plates. Take direction from press operator and/or team leader, and assist with catching and packing of product when necessary.
- Understand and follow order specifications and tolerances by reading docket and specification sheets.
- Perform make‑ready, run, adjust, clean‑up, and maintenance of imaging systems to ensure quality product. Keep updated on all imaging systems.
- Continuously inspect product and troubleshoot imaging and press equipment to ensure product meets customer specifications.
- Operate CRT to set up imaging programs and make changes as necessary according to procedures.
- Perform imaging and press paperwork and follow necessary consumable maintenance and productivity procedures.
- Ensure PM's are done on proprietary imaging equipment on a daily basis.
- Keep press and surrounding work area clean and neat at all times.
- Work with other team members and departments to reduce make‑ready time and increase operating efficiencies.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations. Utilize guards on machines when in operation.
- Follow safety, production, recycling, and other set procedures to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.
Qualifications
- Good basic math and measurement skills.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and visually inspect materials to check for quality and specifications.
- Ability to discriminate colors and compare to specifications.
- Ability to lift under 50 pounds frequently.
- Willingness to cross‑train and perform duties of finishing and operations of the press.
- Ability to train on 1st Shift.
- PC experience desirable.
- Basic understanding of Windows.
Additional Information
The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $19.00‑$31.00 per hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and/or stand‑by pay.
