Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking a skilled press operator for the 1st shift at our St. Charles, IL facility. You will operate high-resolution, variable print imaging equipment, program and prepare jobs for printing, and maintain daily production logs and delivery manifests.

The role requires advanced knowledge of color theory, file manipulation, and in-line finishing per job specs. You will monitor output quality, adjust imaging to customer specs, and assist junior operators.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of digital print and/or inkjet imaging equipment setup and operation.
• Ability to diagnose and correct operating problems affecting quality and timeliness.
• Strong color theory knowledge and ability to adjust imaging to customer specs.
• Excellent skills in file manipulation and handling various formats for digital print.
• Experience setting up feed rollers and inline finishing per job specs.

Responsibilities:

• Operate high resolution, variable print proprietary imaging equipment
• Program and prepare jobs for printing
• Maintain daily print job production logs and daily delivery manifests
• Setup, program and release jobs from print queue
• Adjust image position Color quality and resolution, perforations and folds on paper, etc.
• Monitor quality of job output for correctness and image quality
• Order supplies such as ink, chemical solutions, blankets and rollers, paper, tabs, and other items as needed
• Maintain inventory levels.

Qualifications

• Requires advanced knowledge of digital print and/or inkjet imaging equipment set up, adjustment, operating procedures, and a corresponding level of skill to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment
• Able to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment, and in addition, diagnose, solve, and correct operating problems affecting the quality and timeliness of the service or product or function
• Requires advanced knowledge of color theory and ability to make adjustments and color corrections when operating the equipment to produce the imaging to customer specifications
• Excellent knowledge of file manipulation and file formats for digital print
• Excellent knowledge and ability to set up feed rollers, tensioning, timing and in-line finishing per job specifications
• May instruct junior level operators how to complete the required corrective adjustment
• Typically, corrective adjustments performed require the operator to consider the symptom(s), possible causes and remedies

Additional Information

1st shift 6a - 6p rotating

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $26.25 to $34.00 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include [a sign-on bonus of $X,XXX], overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
