Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking an Imaging Aide to support clerical tasks and frontline customer service in the imaging department. You will assist patients, coordinate with physicians, and help with HIS/RIS/PACS systems to ensure smooth workflow.

Typical duties include handling release forms, sending imaging results, and ensuring proper communications across departments while maintaining a clean, organized workstation and assisting during downtime procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist all customers.
  • Provide direction to customers when needed.
  • Answer the telephone using proper etiquette.
  • Assist with distribution of patient preps and screenings.
  • Place courtesy calls to patients when needed.
  • Prepare all correspondence for physician offices and other institutions.
  • Prepare and obtain necessary release forms.
  • Burn DVDs or send images electronically when applicable.
  • Fax or mail reports when appropriate.
  • Assist physicians and staff with HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
  • Communicate STAT results to physician offices per guidelines.
  • Facilitate internal communication with various departments.
  • Deliver and retrieve requests from technologist/radiologist offices and work areas.
  • Deliver imaging department mail.
  • Direct calls to appropriate locations.
  • Maintain workstation in good condition.
  • Ensure adequate office supplies are stocked.
  • Report malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Implement downtime procedures as needed.
  • Assist in rescheduling patients during equipment downtime.
  • Assist in patient care functions.
  • Escort patients to/from x-ray/scan rooms.
  • Assist technologist in moving patients between modalities/offices.
  • Attend to patient and family comfort needs.
  • Obtain medical history related to the testing being performed.
  • Complete studies in RIS when needed.
  • Assist in preparing exam/sub waiting room.
  • Stock linen when needed.
  • Attend department meetings or review minutes.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Previous experience in healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
  • Act 33 Clearance
  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
  • Act 73- FBI Clearance
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Incumbents will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
  • Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
