Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA's product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Broadband Plasma (BBP) division is the market‑leading optical inspection system used by logic, foundry, and memory customers to detect critical defects at advanced nodes. These tools combine broadband plasma technology with unmatched sensitivity and speed to support high‑volume manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities

• Investigate image processing, computer vision, and machine learning methods relevant to semiconductor inspection.
• Implement, adapt, and evaluate selected methods on optical and/or scanning electron microscope image datasets.
• Develop reproducible analyses and benchmarks to compare methods and understand their strengths, limitations, and suitability for the data.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to interpret results and draw conclusions that inform future research and development.
• Document methods and findings, and present results and recommendations to the team.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, materials science, biology, geography or a related field.
• Relevant coursework, research, or independent project experience in at least one of the following:
  • Image processing, image analysis, computer vision, or computational imaging
  • Machine learning or deep learning, not necessarily applied to images.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Solid foundation in statistics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to learn unfamiliar methods and application areas.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and clearly communicate technical findings.

Total Rewards

Base Pay Range: $49.00 - $58.00 per hour based on pursuit of a Masters and Ph.D.

Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
