Job summary

Interlingva is seeking a qualified Ilocano interpreter for freelance work in the Sacramento area, delivering services primarily in healthcare settings. This independent contractor role offers a flexible schedule and ongoing opportunities based on demand.

You will interpret orally between Ilocano and English in both directions, supporting medical professionals, patients, and related agencies with fidelity and cultural sensitivity. Availability in Sacramento-area sites is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Ilocano and English.
• Demonstrated experience providing accurate interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with fidelity to the original communication.
• Strong ability to interpret orally between Ilocano and English in both directions.
• Proven ability to work with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders.
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience.
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination records and background checks.

• Strong ability to interpret orally between Ilocano and English in both directions
• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
• Possession of a valid California license
