Job summary

Job description

Join our life‑saving team in London, KY. PHI Health is seeking skilled and dedicated pilots to serve as Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) operations captain on the EC135 fleet. This role involves 24-hour day/night rotations with instrument and SPIFR/NVG ratings.

Job Summary

As an HAA Captain, you will conduct 24-hour day/night operations, perform line pilot duties in accordance with GOM, support the company Safety Management System and Destination Zero safety initiatives, and provide safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Operate the EC135 in 24-hour day/night rotations, requiring 24-hour duty periods.
  • Perform line pilot duties IAW GOM.
  • Support the Safety Management System, Destination Zero, and other safety campaigns.
  • Assist in loading and unloading patients and equipment, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Coordinate with internal and external customers to deliver reliable patient transport.
  • Participate in community outreach programs per PHI Air Medical policies.
Qualifications
  • Commercial and Instrument Helicopter Ratings (ATP), with the ATP achieved within 12 months of start.
  • Valid VE7A certificate.
  • Minimum 2,000 total flight hours, including 1,500 helicopter hours, 1,000 PIC helicopter hours, 500 turbine helicopter hours.
  • Minimum 100 hours of unaided night operations or 50 hours unaided + 100 hours NVG.
  • 100 hours of instrument flight (actual and hood).
  • First-class medical certificate and CAMTS requirement.
  • Must meet company weight restriction policy (not more than 235 pounds).
  • Strong communication skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam with functional capacity assessment, lift 100 pounds, drug screening, and background check.

Schedule & Location

Schedule: 7x7 with rotating days of the week. Base location: London, KY. Off-Duty housing provided.

Service Requirements
  • Aircraft transition requires a minimum of 1 year of service prior to assignment.
  • If the relocation package is utilized, a minimum of 2 years of service is required.
