Job summary

Air Methods is seeking a Company Instructor to oversee training and evaluation for helicopter and fixed-wing pilots. You will conduct classroom, flight, and simulator checks, ensuring safety and adherence to the General Operations Manual.

Responsibilities include developing training schedules, addressing non-compliance, and delivering ground and flight instruction (including NVG, instrument, and transition training). A strong background in flight training and program implementation is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience or training.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman is preferred.
  • Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience is expected.
  • ATP rating in aircraft category is preferred.
  • Commercial/Instrument rating is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to implement training programs (initial and recurrent).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff.
  • CFI / CFII (Rotor Wing) or willingness to obtain within one year.

  • Coordinate initial and recurrent ground and flight training programs.
  • Develop and implement training schedules and SOPs.
  • Identify and report out-of-compliance issues immediately.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized training and checking procedures.

Job description

  • Company instructor who performs an oversight, safety and qualification role for Helicopter and/or Fixed Wing pilots undergoing evaluation.
  • Conducts training and flight checks in a classroom, an aircraft, or in a flight simulator.
  • Evaluate operational compliance including all aspects of safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, and other procedures and policies as described in the General Operations Manual
  • Initial and Recurrent training (ground and flight)
  • Transition, differences and ROC (restricted operations checks) ground and flight training
  • Correct and report out-of-compliance issues immediately
  • Assist in the development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules
  • Ensure that standardized training and checking procedures, provided by the certificate are adhered to
  • Assist in development and conduct of Basic Indoctrination Training, initial and recurrent ground training, initial and recurrent flight training, instrument training (ground and flight), and night vision goggle (NVG) training (ground and flight)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred
  • Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience
  • ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
  • Commercial/Instrument rating required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to implement training programs (initial and recurrent training)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with all levels
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • CFI / CFII (Rotor wing) or willingness to obtain within one year.
