Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking an Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals Writer 3 for a contract opportunity in Elkridge, MD. The role focuses on creating and maintaining technical manuals for advanced radar/military systems, conforming to DoD standards and XML-based formats.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of technical writing with Arbortext or XML tools, DoD Secret clearance, and proficiency in MS Office/Adobe Acrobat, plus experience with XML tagging and Confluence/JIRA.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in STEM or related field or equivalent military ops/maintenance experience.
Experience with military specifications MIL-STD-40051 a plus.
Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience tagging XML documents.
2+ years' technical writing with Arbortext or XML tools.
Experience with Confluence/JIRA.
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and detail-oriented.
DoD Secret clearance required.
Self-starter and engaged team member.

Responsibilities

Write, rewrite and develop technical manual content such as Operating Procedures and Maintenance procedures for military systems.
Oversee development of illustrative materials including drawings and diagrams.
Conduct quality review of materials.
Author and publish materials in electronic and structured formats (HTML, XML).
Collaborate with leads, engineers and instructors to deliver manuals at varying detail levels.
Research program documents and engineering sources to develop outlines and ensure compliance with military standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
