• Hold a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsements in the area of disability served; in lieu of complete endorsement, a conditional license may be granted if the teacher is working toward complete endorsement at a rate of a minimum of six semester hours per year.
• Equivalent to at least Type Area or Field work experience

Responsibilities

• Develops Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and plans curriculum.
• Serves as case manager for students with disabilities.
• Employs a variety of instructional strategies and adapts content to student needs.
• Collaborates with parents, staff and specialists on IEPs.
• Maintains records and reports progress on IEP goals.
• Uses assistive technology and specialized equipment.
