Job summary

The IDB Group is inviting an active graduate student to join as an Intern Consultant for a two-month winter internship at its Washington, D.C. headquarters. The program offers paid experience in development work and corporate management within the IDB Group.

You will help build knowledge products, update policy materials and branding templates, and support webinars and regional dialogues. This role emphasizes collaboration, client focus, and continuous learning in an inclusive, international

Qualifications

  • Active graduate student in a relevant field from an accredited University.
  • Fluency in English with working knowledge of another Bank language (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and client-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Excel for organizing, analyzing and presenting data.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of a strategic framework for knowledge products and identify priority topics with Group Heads and Specialists.
  • Review and update ESPF training materials and shared content with technical focal points.
  • Develop standardized tools and templates to streamline planning of future Regional Policy Dialogues.
  • Update Capacity Building presentations using corporate branding and templates.
  • Assist in coordinating webinars, workshops and virtual learning events, including logistics and follow-up knowledge management.

About This Position

The IDB Group is looking for an active graduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality. The 2027 Winter Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the development of a strategic framework for knowledge products, including the identification of priority topics in close collaboration with Group Heads and Specialists.
  • Review and update training materials and shared content on the IDB\'s Environmental and Social Policy Framework (ESPF), in coordination with technical focal points.
  • Development of standardized tools and templates to streamline the planning and coordination of future Regional Policy Dialogues (RPDs).
  • Update and standardize Capacity Building presentations using the Bank\'s approved corporate branding and presentation templates.
  • Support the coordination of webinars, workshops, and virtual learning events, including logistical planning, participant communications, and post-event knowledge management activities.
What You'll Need
  • Education: An active graduate in Environment, Social Development, Communications, Public Administration, International Relations or Development from an accredited University. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Languages: Fluency in English with a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
  • Key Skills: Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things.
  • Soft Skills: Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management skills.
  • Technical skills: : Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for organizing, analyzing, and presenting data
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Be a national of an IDB member country.
  • Active student: Enrolled in a graduate (master\'s or Ph.D.) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Consanguinity: Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
  • First job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation ("Corporation" also known as "IDB Invest"). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce ("CW"), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.
