Woodward in Loves Park, IL is hiring for an ID Grinder Machinist on the 2nd shift. The role focuses on setting up and operating CNC and manual grinders to produce precision metal parts per engineering specs.

Qualified candidates will read blueprints, apply GD&T, perform inspections, and contribute to lean initiatives and safety efforts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years ID Grinder machine experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints & GD&T.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and independent working capability.
• Proven attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC or manual grinding machines to produce precision parts.
• Perform first piece inspections and support inspections per SOPs.
• Follow detailed work instructions, maintain production efficiency, and ensure quality.
• Champion 5S, safety, and cleanliness in the work area.
• Collaborate with team leads and other operators to meet schedules.

Skilled at interpreting engineering blueprints and in-depth GD&T knowledge.Quality Assurance: Uses various gages to inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Records and maintains data per operating standards (SOP).Organization & Cleanliness: Champions 5S principles, develops and refines 5S practices, and ensures consistent adherence to standards across the team or department.
