Thrive Pet Healthcare’s Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center in Round Rock, TX is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for ICU/ER coverage. This full-time daytime role includes 3x12-hour shifts, with weekend availability, and opportunities to monitor hospitalized patients, administer meds, perform IV placements, fluids, and in-house diagnostics, while delivering compassionate nursing care.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent experience as a Veterinary Technician – Emergency/ICU required.
• Comfortable with ICU monitoring, hospitalized nursing care, treatment sheets, I&O, post-op monitoring.
• Excellent communication skills in a fast-paced ICU/ER environment.
• Proficiency with core ICU skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, meds, oxygen, in-house diagnostics.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor ICU patients, track vital signs and report changes.
• Place and maintain IV catheters; perform blood draws and sample collection.
• Set up and manage fluids and CRIs as directed.
• Calculate and administer medications and treatments (IV/IM/SQ/PO).
• Provide respiratory support and oxygen therapy; assist with advanced support as needed.
• Assist with emergency stabilization and CPR readiness.
