ICU Veterinary Assistant- Full Time
The successful candidate will work on animal patients; monitors temperature, pulse and respiration; monitors IV fluid administration; will walk animals outside; will clean ward areas, stock supplies; will process lab samples and medication orders; enters charges in the hospital information system; assists clinicians, veterinary technicians and clinical students with animal patients in the Small Animal Emergency Medicine Unit of the Veterinary Medical Center.

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related work experience in a veterinary practice, maintaining accurate records, typing and basic computer skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with general handling of cats and dogs; knowledge of animal restraint for blood collection and IV catheter placement; positioning for X-rays and IV fluid monitoring; previous exposure to monitoring equipment such as IV fluid pumps, EKG, Pulse oximeter and Doppler blood pressure.
