Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate for full-time night shifts (36 hours) to support direct patient care and unit operations in a hospital setting.

Under RN supervision, you will assist with patient care, data collection, and patient/family communication, ensuring safety and confidentiality throughout admission to discharge. A HS diploma and CPR/BLS are required, with nursing assistant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS degree or equivalent required.
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS required.
• 1 year of Nursing Assistant experience preferred; hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the registered nurse in basic patient care and safety.
• Collect, record, and communicate vital data to supervising nurse.
• Transport patients and accompany them as needed within the facility.
• Assist with patient teaching and orientation to the unit.
• Maintain patient records and confidentiality from admission to discharge.

Job Description:

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Associate provides direct patient care and environmental support to facilitate patient and staff safety.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions:

• Assists the registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient centered care is delivered appropriate to the developmental level of the patient population.
• Collects, records, or communicates pertinent clinical data to the supervising nurse.
• Transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital.
• Assists in patient teaching.
• Communicates any changes in patient status immediately to supervising nurse.
• Documents routine parameters of care per standard and records name and title.
• Performs and documents patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by nurse.
• Maintains patient/ family confidentiality at all times.
• Responds to patient/ family requests promptly, seeking assistance as needed.
• Performs and remains competent in skills.
• Acts as a constant observer when requested.
• Coordinates and facilitates all intra and interdepartmental patient activities.
• Organizes patient flow on the unit.
• Participates in scheduling of secretarial staff
• Organizes and accurately maintains the unit census/assignment log book and patient board.
• Communicates patient information or changes affecting the unit to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintains patient medical record complete from admission to discharge.
• Communicates to appropriate departments, patient admission, discharge, or transfer.
• Performs several office clerical duties.

Job Requirements

Education:

HS degree minimum required

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS required

Required Work Experience:

1 year ofNursing Assistant experience preffered.

Hospital experience preferred.

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $26.92

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
