Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy ICU Department. This ICU Emergency Veterinary Technician role is fast-paced and will allow you to apply advanced anesthesia, monitoring, and emergency care skills.

You will triage emergencies, monitor vitals, perform radiography, assist with anesthesia, venous access, CPR, and mentor teammates in a supportive, high‑caliber team environment.

Qualifications

• Certified veterinary technician with emergency/ICU experience.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and emergency triage.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform radiography and proper patient positioning.
• Identify unstable patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Mentor and train other co-workers in ICU care.

As an ICU Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
