Job summary

Allied Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Daytime ICU & Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced team. You’ll care for critically ill patients, assist with surgeries, diagnostics, and client communications on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule with alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of prior experience working as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is required.
• Strong technical and patient-care skills.
• Ability to monitor patients closely and recognize changes in condition.

Responsibilities

• Manage critically ill and injured hospitalized patients.
• Closely monitor patients and provide prescribed treatments.
• Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the DVM.
• Perform diagnostic sampling, testing, and imaging.
• Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical procedures.
• Work with multiple DVMs to stabilize emergency patients.
• Apply medical math skills accurately in patient care.
• Provide daily progress updates to pet owners.
• Help manage and support Veterinary Assistants.
