Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is offering an ICU/CVICU Transitional Bridge Program for experienced acute care RNs eager to move into high-acuity ICU and CVICU units. This structured, hands-on training includes mentorship, exposure to MICU/SICU/CVICU, and clear paths to advanced roles after completion.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in DC or eligible to practice.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required.
• Minimum 1 year or 3 years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to CVICU/CTICU patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Work with physicians, cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and other professionals for coordinated care.
• Utilize advanced monitoring equipment to assess cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data and respond to changes in patient status.
• Educate patients and families on postoperative care, medications, and potential complications.
