Compal USA Technology is a leading advanced manufacturing company specializing in the production of next-generation AI servers, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology solutions.
With rapidly expanding operations in Taylor and Georgetown TX, we are investing more than $235 million in manufacturing infrastructure and creating up to 1,500 careers in Central Texas. Guided by our commitment to Building Tomorrow, we combine innovation, operational excellence, and a high-performance culture to shape the future of technology manufacturing.
The ICT Engineer owns the development, validation, release, and sustaining of In-Circuit Test (ICT) solutions for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) supporting AI server manufacturing — including ICT strategy, Design for Testability (DFT) reviews, fixture development, test program optimization, production release, and continuous yield improvement.
Working closely with Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams, this role ensures robust structural test coverage, manufacturing readiness, and scalable test solutions for high-volume production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ICT Test Development
- Develop, validate, and release ICT test programs for new and existing server PCBAs.
- Optimize ICT test sequences, test limits, and structural test coverage.
- Design, develop, and maintain ICT fixtures and interface hardware.
- Optimize ICT cycle time while maintaining required test coverage and product quality.
- Support ICT equipment qualification, installation, and production release activities.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, test procedures, and manufacturing instructions.
Design for Testability (DFT)
- Participate in schematic and PCB layout DFT reviews.
- Evaluate test point accessibility and recommend design improvements.
- Drive structural test coverage improvements through DFT optimization.
- Support Boundary Scan (JTAG) implementation where applicable.
- Partner with hardware design teams to improve manufacturability and testability.
- Evaluate test point and probe access constraints introduced by cold plates, coolant manifolds, and quick-disconnect (QD) fittings.
- Define pre- vs. post-cold-plate test sequencing strategy to maximize structural test coverage before liquid cooling hardware is installed.
- Coordinate with Mechanical/Thermal Engineering on cold plate clearance and fixture design for liquid-cooled PCBAs.
- Support fixture design updates required to accommodate LC hardware without compromising test coverage.
Production & NPI Support
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), engineering builds, pilot builds, and production ramp.
- Troubleshoot ICT hardware, software, fixture, and communication failures.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and product revisions.
- Improve equipment utilization, uptime, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams during production.
- Analyze ICT yield performance and drive First Pass Yield (FPY) improvement initiatives.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
- Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor manufacturing performance.
- Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to raise test coverage, reduce false failures, and optimize production performance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3+ years developing and supporting ICT solutions in high-volume electronics manufacturing.
- Experience supporting AI servers, networking, telecommunications, or enterprise computing products.
- Experience with DFT, Boundary Scan (JTAG), and PCB assembly manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Keysight, Teradyne, SPEA, or equivalent ICT platforms.
- Experience testing liquid-cooled (LC) server PCBAs, including cold plate and coolant hardware constraints, is a plus.
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and electronics manufacturing standards.
