Job summary

dbHMS in Chicago seeks an ICT Designer 1 to support the design team in delivering high-quality ICT systems across healthcare, higher education, civic and commercial buildings.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in IT/CS/EE, strong communication, and a solid foundation in BIM and Revit. The role involves collaborating with Senior ICT Consultants, performing design tasks, and coordinating with architecture and engineering disciplines in a dynamic, flexible environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or EE or equivalent.
  • Experience reading construction documents and floor plans.
  • Familiarity with Wired and Wireless LAN.

Responsibilities

  • Operate BIM Software.
  • Read and understand construction documents, floor plans and equipment details.
  • Operate MS Office and engineering software for tasks.
  • Assist in the design of ICT systems under supervision.
  • Coordinate tech system components with architecture and engineering disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Collaborate with project leads on product research to meet client needs.

Most duties will be performed in an office environment. dbHMS currently operates with both hybrid and remote-only work policies. The remainder of the duties will be performed in a combination of office environment and construction/field environment which will involve trips to projects sites.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and frequently is required to walk. The work typically requires the use hands to type, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and perform work in the field. The typical week consists of five, eight-hour shifts.

Position Overview

Do more than just build! Our ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Designers execute the design of Structured Cabling, Electronic Security and Audio-Video Systems for a variety of exciting projects. At dbHMS, our Designers will work under direction of Senior Consultants gaining knowledge, experience and expertise in all phases of the design process. The tasks associated with this position include the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Systems and Solutions for healthcare, higher education, civic and commercial buildings. Ideal candidates will have attention to detail, demonstrate a strong technical background with effective and clear communications skills. They will gain experience as they work closely with Senior ICT Consultants in completing research, calculations, studying reports, drawings and specifications.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate BIM Software.
  • Read and understand construction documents, floor plans and equipment details.
  • Operate computer software such as Microsoft Office programs to perform engineering tasks.
  • Assist in the design of Information Technology Systems under supervision.
  • Coordinate technology system components with the architecture, internal and external engineering disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
  • Work in tandem with project leads in product research and review to meet client and project requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: B.S. degree in Information Technology (preferred), Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Basic engineering or construction background.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar knowledge of Wired and Wireless LAN.
  • Completion of an Internship in an MEP Consulting firm.
  • Revit knowledge.
