Job summary

ALS is seeking an ICP/OES-ICP/MS Analyst to join our Stratford, CT laboratory. You will analyze samples using manual and advanced instrumental techniques under prescribed SOPs and ensure accurate, timely results for client projects.

The role requires a related science Bachelor’s degree, experience with ICP-OES/ICP-MS, 1–5 years in an analytical lab, and strong communication, organization, and meticulous record-keeping. You will troubleshoot instruments and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related science is preferred.
  • ICP-MS/ICP-AES/ICP-OES experience strongly preferred
  • 1-5 years of analytical laboratory experience preferred
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work under pressure with large sample volumes and short turnaround times.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use (or learn) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze samples using manual and complex instrumental techniques following prescribed methods and SOPs.
  • Analyze, interpret and review sample results, and perform peer review of data.
  • Maintain all quality control requirements and records.
  • Meet specified turnaround times and document bench observations.
  • Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions when needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow lab safety practices.
  • Collaborate with team and perform other duties as assigned.

About the role

Analyst will be responsible for analyzing samples using manual and more complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.

About You
  • Perform all duties associated with sample analysis of more complex laboratory tests.
  • Analyze, interpret and review sample results, as well as peer review of other data.
  • Perform all quality control requirements associated with the methods and maintain appropriate records.
  • Perform all work within established quality control parameters and within specified turnaround times.
  • Record bench level observations and keep records in bound and electronic notebooks.
  • Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and a clean, orderly work area at all times.
  • Exercise laboratory safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
