Job summary

Talbot County Government is seeking a Part-Time, Seasonal Skate Guard/Rentals staff to help keep the ice safe and fun. You will assist patrons with skate rentals and enforce rink rules while providing friendly service.

Applicants should have ice skating experience and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The position offers hourly pay and opportunities to support public events at the Parks and Recreation facility in Easton, MD.

Qualifications

• Ice skating experience required.
• Experience in facility maintenance or similar role.
• Knowledge of ice resurfacing and refrigeration systems is preferred.
• Ability to operate machinery (e.g., Zamboni) and basic hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a cold environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the ice to ensure skater safety, enforce rules, and prevent unsafe behavior.
• Assist skaters with putting on and returning rental skates.
• Maintain and sanitize skate rental equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer questions about rink rules and policies.
• Perform minor skate repairs or adjustments as needed.
• Assist with rink setup and break-down for public skate sessions and special events.
• Report any accidents or incidents to rink management.
• Help with other duties as assigned, including crowd control and line management.
