Job summary

Intertek-PSI in Phoenix, AZ invites applications for an ICC Special Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries team. The role focuses on inspections, testing, project observations, and site assessments, working with a qualified team on A/E/C projects.

The candidate should have at least 2 years of related inspection experience, an ICC reinforced concrete certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work off shifts. Strong communication and physical stamina are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ related inspection experience.
  • ICC reinforced concrete certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Ability to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and calibrate testing equipment and conduct soil and/or concrete testing and provide an assessment of data through reporting.
  • Utilize drawings, specifications and diagrams.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks and complex assignments.
  • Make detailed observations, give interpretation of results, maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Communicate effectively with client and project teams and attend project meetings.

Salary & Benefits Information:

The base wage or salary range for this position is $30 - $40 p/hr. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, certifications, and other job-related reasons.

  • ICC certifications in the following areas: Post Tensioned Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel and Bolting, Welding, and/or SFRM
  • ICC Commercial Building inspector certification
