Job summary

Apogee Semiconductor in Plano, TX is seeking an engineering professional to bridge front-end design with market needs, creating datasheets and leading product specification processes across IC design, verification, and production teams.

You will engage with customers, draft market analyses, and help shape go-to-market strategies while ensuring compliance and advancing radiation-hardened solutions for space applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in semiconductor systems engineering, space systems design, power system design, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on space systems is a benefit, but not an absolute requirement.
  • A strong team player, able to work toward common goals.
  • Experience in technical customer meetings—explainingthe technical advantages of products and soliciting technical and marketfeedback.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the customer-facing datasheets for new products, from initial datasheet through qualification and up to release to market.
  • Oversee the spec compliance matrix (SCM) with inputs from IC Design, IC Verification, Radiation Effects, and Production Test teams (DFT).
  • Negotiate new product specifications and architectural trade-offs with design, test teams, and customers.
  • Vet new product specifications with lead customers identified with Marketing.
  • Meet with customers to understand problems and market opportunities; feed input to Sales and Marketing.
  • Compile market opportunity and competitive analysis reports and customer feedback for go/no-go decisions.
  • Work with Marketing to participate in committees and standards organizations.
  • Assist early customers with understanding new product offerings prior to release.
  • Support Applications Team in addressing customer needs after product release.
  • Advocate for customers’ requirements in internal discussions.
  • Perform systems analysis to support new product development; include stability analysis of closed-loop systems.
  • Develop initial reference designs for simulation and bench evaluation of a product.
  • Develop initial SPICE or other models of system-level performance as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for “system-level” patents and raise them to the CTO; assist patent filing.
  • Identify, specify, and develop tools to assist customer adoption of new products.

Job Description
What You’ll Do
  • Create and maintain the customer-facing datasheets fornew products, from initial datasheet through qualification and up to release tomarket.
  • Ensure product specification compliance throughoversight of the spec compliance matrix (SCM), mandating comprehensive inputsfrom the IC Design Team, IC Verification Team, Radiation Effects Team, andProduction Test Team (DFT).
  • Negotiate new product specifications and architecturaltrade-offs with the IC Design Team, Test Team, and customers.
  • Vet new product specifications with lead customersidentified in collaboration with the Marketing Team.
  • Meet with customers to understand what problems Apogeecan solve for them and what market opportunities exist in addressing thoseproblems. Feed this input into Sales and Marketing to support new product salesand the strategic roadmap.
  • Compile the market opportunity report, competitiveanalysis report, and customer feedback to support a go / no-go decision for newproduct development.
  • Work with Marketing to identify and participate in keycommittees and standards organizations to remain current on industry trends andpromote Apogee’s core competencies.
  • Assist early customers with understanding new productofferings prior to release into production.
  • Support the Applications Team in understanding newproducts so they can address customers’ needs and questions once a product isreleased to market.
  • Be an advocate for customers’ requirements in internaldiscussions.
