Job summary

Calpine Corporation in the United States is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to maintain and repair electrical equipment, instrumentation, and plant control systems. You will monitor the DCS, perform routine troubleshooting, use CMMS, and help keep logs, manuals and procedures neat and up to date in a safety‑conscious environment.

2–5 years in instrument/electrical and control systems is preferred, with knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes and experience with Mark VI or Emerson Ovation

Job Summary (including but not limited to the following; other duties may be assigned)

Maintains and repairs electrical equipment and instrumentation. Monitors, maintains, and repairs plant Distributed Control System (DCS). Monitors, maintain, and repairs gas turbine, steam turbine control systems, generators, transformers, and switchgear. Maintain, calibrate and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Perform routine trouble shooting activities. Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to effectively accomplish required maintenance in and efficient and organized manner. Optimize plant preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy. Responsible for maintaining logs, manuals, records, blueprints and operating procedures in a neat and professional manner. Provide written reports on control system conditions when required. Incorporates safe behavior into all activities and consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures, helps to identify and eliminate or actively manage risks in all work activities.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
• Journey-level; 2-5 years’ experience in instrument/electrical and control system applications.
• Preferred experience with Mark VI Control System and Emerson Ovation Control System.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with an advanced understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
• Experience with DCS programming and configuration
• Advanced certifications/licensures. Valid state driver’s license.

• Assist with the design and review of engineered instruments, controls and electrical installations including P&ID development.
• Responsible for development of comprehensive commissioning plans.
• Will lead project startup controls verification and troubleshooting.
• Support with schedule and implementation of various programs
• Ability to understand and modify P&ID’s, Electrical Schematics and One-Line drawings

• Makes recommendations on moderately complex issues regarding project components and tasks.
• Makes recommendations on new processes, tools and services; supports and contributes to development of new products, services or techniques.

Salary Information

• Hourly Rate Range - $64.3119 to $65.2746 /hour
