Job summary

The Storage Group is seeking a DevOps Engineer to manage its cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines from our Columbia, MO home office. You will collaborate with software developers and network admins to deploy new products and automate systems, ensuring reliability and security across regions.

You will lead IaC efforts with Terraform, maintain AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch), and enhance CI/CD workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years in a DevOps, cloud engineering, or systems administration role.
• Strong Linux/Unix experience and good communication.
• Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, CloudFormation, Route 53, RDS.

Join Our Team as a DevOps Engineer!

Do you enjoy building and supporting innovative and reliable cloud-based systems? We’re looking for a DevOps Engineerto work alongside other Information Technology professionals, including software developers and network administrators, to deploy new products and manage our infrastructure, processes, and systems. Compensation:

$70,000-$85,000per year commensurate with experience

What You’ll Do:

• Support and maintain our multi-account, multi-region AWS infrastructure.
• Build whole-stack AWS Elastic Load Balancing for databases and applications, and lead the process of moving and launching sites/services to new environments.
• Assist with deploying applications across our brands (Node.js, Golang, and other custom applications).
• Provision, manage, and deploy public and private SSL/TLS certificates for use with hosted AWS services, using AWS Certificate Manager.
• Manage cloud resources and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform.
• Monitor systems, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot issues that arise during testing and production, catching and resolving problems before launch.
• Build and maintain tools, solutions, and microservices associated with deployment and our operations platform, ensuring they meet customer service standards and reduce errors.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automation to make deployments smoother, and manage code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes.
• Lead the DevOps Engineering function; develop and advise management on best practices.
• Test system integrity, implemented designs, application developments, and other infrastructure processes, making improvements as needed.
• Update existing processes and design new ones as needed; document infrastructure, processes, and runbooks along the way.
• Deploy product updates as required and implement integrations as they arise.
• Follow security best practices, help manage access controls, and automate operational processes in compliance with security requirements.
• Specify, document, and develop new product features, including writing automation scripts.
• Effectively manage assigned projects while lending support to the wider team; collaborate closely with developers and other engineers.
• Work with open-source technologies and offer technical support where needed, including developing software for back-end systems.
• Forecast and report predicted spend for AWS and related services based on StorageMart's website infrastructure, data usage, and other criteria.
• Make strategic and tactical recommendations on AWS, current industry trends, and related services to support current and future growth.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis to understand past, current, and future trends in website performance and fraud patterns.
• Stay current with industry trends and source new ways for the business to improve.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree (Master's a plus) in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in a DevOps Engineer, cloud engineering, or systems administration role (or similar); experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus.
• Strong experience with Linux/Unix-based infrastructures and administration (MacOS or Linux locally).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain protocols and processes to team members and management.
• Stellar troubleshooting skills, with the ability to spot issues before they become problems, and a willingness to dig into issues independently.
• Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
• Current with industry trends, IT operations, and industry best practices; able to identify which to implement.
• Solid, all-around team player who works well with others and asks for help when needed.
• Desired certifications: AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer (or working toward one).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, Route 53, RDS, SQS, Code Deploy, IAM, AWS Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and source control such as Git/GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and CircleCI.
• Scripting experience with JavaScript (Node.js, React, JSON), Python, Bash, or Ruby.
• Experience with databases such as MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL, and/or MongoDB (including MongoDB Atlas).
• Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Agile, Jira, Workfront, and Scrum/Kanban.
• Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services.

Other Qualifications (not mandatory):

• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch, or ELK.
• Networking fundamentals (VPCs, load balancers, DNS).
• Experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Exposure to Node.js and Golang applications.
• Experience with multi-region or multi-account AWS setups.
• Interest in security or compliance concepts.
• Curiosity about serverless architectures.
