Clean Harbors Tacoma, WA Facility is seeking an I&E Technician Intern to join our safety-focused team, offering hands‑on experience on real projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services during Summer 2027.

This in-person internship at Tacoma is based at Tacoma, WA, with start dates May 17th or May 24th, and runs through August 2027, providing mentorship from experienced technicians and exposure to field operations.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in a two-year I&E program, electrical engineering, or other relevant field at an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of P&IDs and electrical schematics preferred;
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail;
• Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to work independently;
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook);
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbally;
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for prolonged periods, and work at heights;
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Assist in troubleshooting instruments and control system malfunctions
• Shadow technicians performing preventative maintenance checks, calibrations, and inspections
• Support work on cabling, power distribution systems, switchgear, and motor control centers
• Gain exposure to substation equipment and medium voltage electrical systems
• Maintain accurate records and logs as required
• Verify and update P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation
