Job summary

Airswift is seeking an I&E Technician III in Baytown, TX for a 12-month assignment to support maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment in an industrial plant. You will help keep critical plant and control systems operating safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Essential: High school diploma or GED.
  • Essential: 5+ years electrical and instrumentation experience in energy-related industrial environments.
  • Essential: Knowledge of electrical codes and AC voltages (120–480V) including 3-phase and 24 VDC.
  • Essential: Ability to read safety procedures, blueprints and P&IDs.
  • Essential: Strong mechanical aptitude and use of standard tools.
  • Essential: Proficient with basic computer tasks and document creation.
  • Essential: Ability to handle multiple tasks, communicate well, and work safely in a fast-paced setting.
  • Essential: Valid driving license and acceptable record.
  • Essential: Willing to work overtime and respond to call-outs.
  • Desirable: Technical trade school or apprenticeship in instrumentation or related field.
  • Desirable: Journeyman electrical designation.

Responsibilities

  • Modify, repair and overhaul electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment and controls.
  • Troubleshoot faults in control systems and complex equipment (gas receipts, turbines, generators, dehydration, stations).
  • Install and maintain instrumentation and electrical components safely and effectively.
  • Maintain distributed control systems and PLCs.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain end devices, alarms, shutdowns and process controls.
  • Run conduit, pull wire, change motors and maintain lighting and motor controls.
  • Maintain advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame, vibration and temperature).
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams and drawings and update as required.
  • Carry out preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Provide technical support and training as needed.

Position Overview

This opportunity is for an I&E Technician III to support the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment within an industrial environment. The I&E Technician III will play a key role in keeping critical plant and control systems operating safely and efficiently. This position is well suited to a technically strong professional with hands-on experience across instrumentation, electrical systems and industrial controls. The I&E Technician III offers broad technical scope, practical problem-solving and involvement with essential operational equipment.

Role Context

This role sits within the energy sector and supports operations across industrial facilities and associated equipment. The working environment includes indoor and outdoor settings around electrical and process equipment, with exposure to changing weather conditions, physically demanding tasks, confined spaces and work at height. The role may also involve domestic travel as part of operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Modify, repair and overhaul electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment and controls.
  • Troubleshoot faults in control systems and complex equipment associated with gas receipts, turbines, generators, process plants, dehydration, control stations and pump stations.
  • Install and maintain instrumentation and electrical components in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Maintain, modify and troubleshoot distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers and panel boards.
  • Run conduit, pull wire, change motors and maintain lighting systems and basic motor controls.
  • Maintain advanced monitoring devices including gas, flame, fire, vibration and temperature monitoring equipment.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams and other complex technical drawings, and update electrical drawings where required.
  • Carry out preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and related components.
  • Provide technical support and training as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Essential: Minimum of 5+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience, ideally within an energy-related industrial environment.
  • Essential: Strong knowledge of electrical codes and familiarity with AC voltage systems from 120-480V, including three-phase, single-phase and 24 VDC systems.
  • Essential: Ability to read and understand written safety procedures, work procedures, blueprints, P&IDs, work permits and technical manuals.
  • Essential: Strong mechanical aptitude and practical ability in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Essential: Basic computer skills, including creating and updating documents and spreadsheets.
  • Essential: Ability to prioritise multiple tasks, communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Essential: Valid driving licence and acceptable driving record.
  • Essential: Ability to work overtime and respond to call‑outs when required.
  • Essential: Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, bending, working at height and in confined spaces, and wearing specialist safety equipment.
  • Desirable: Graduation from a technical trade school, completion of an apprenticeship, certification or associate degree in instrumentation or a related discipline.
  • Desirable: Journeyman electrical designation.
