Job description

The I&E Technician provides instrumentation and electrical technical support for construction, engineering, future asset buildouts, and field operations. This position installs, repairs, troubleshoots, and performs predictive and preventive maintenance on control systems, natural gas compression and pump stations, SCADA systems, LACT skids, and other equipment within oil, gas, and liquid facilities and pipelines.

The I&E Technician also inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains process control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and related equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty, including:

• Install, diagnose, and maintain SCADA systems and plant, pipeline, and compressor instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Perform all duties reliably and efficiently while complying with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Install, diagnose, and maintain pneumatic and intelligent instruments, electrical distribution systems, motor‑control equipment, and associated software.
• Install, diagnose, and maintain PLC, DCS, and process‑safety control systems.
• Read and interpret manuals, policies, engineering standards, regulations, drawings, and schematics, including electrical, pneumatic, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Test, calibrate, and document plant and compressor‑station control and safety devices in accordance with DOT Parts 192, 193, and 195, as applicable, and OSHA Process Safety Management requirements under 29 CFR 1910.
• Ensure all required preventive‑maintenance tasks are completed at the appropriate frequencies.
• Participate in callout and on‑call rotations.
• Actively participate in company safety programs and initiatives.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and other required documentation.
• Provide work direction and oversight to third‑party contractors and inspect completed contractor work.
• Mentor and provide oversight to less‑experienced employees.
• Provide accurate written and electronic reports.
• Perform energy‑isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively with Supervisors, vendors, customers, and coworkers.

Required Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Required Experience

• Five years of experience in instrumentation and/or electrical work.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a demonstrated safe driving record.
• Ability to maintain motor controls, relay logic, remote terminal units (RTUs), and associated I&E end devices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.
• Experience using software to troubleshoot, design, or configure control solutions, including InTouch, FactoryTalk, Allen‑Bradley or RSLogix.
• Extensive knowledge of DOT Parts 192, 193, and 195 as they relate to required testing and documentation for plants, compressor stations, pipelines, and other facilities.
• Demonstrated understanding of the National Electrical Code and OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910 as they relate to electrical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Measurement experience.
• Associate degree in instrumentation or a related field.
• Experience with Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S).

The work‑environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position:

• Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching above shoulder height, and climbing ladders up to 25 feet.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable assistance.
• Work in confined spaces when required.
• Respond to operational issues and emergencies after regular work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work in and around industrial and construction environments that may involve hazardous products, processes, materials, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud machinery.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
• Maintain reliable and regular attendance.
