Job summary

AdvanSix seeks an Instrumentation-Electrical Technician to diagnose, service, troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation and electrical systems across plant facilities. The role focuses on PLCs, DCS, motors, power distribution, and control circuits within a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in industrial electrical/electronic technology, five years of related experience, and strong reading of schematics.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in industrial electrical/electronic technology or similar certification.
  • Five years industrial experience in Instrumentation-Electrical Maintenance.
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings/schematics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs and CNCs.
  • Basic programming knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is desirable.
  • Mechanical background with troubleshooting skills is desirable.
  • Proficient English communication, both written and spoken.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient computer skills to use requisite software.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot critical equipment on failure and restore operation quickly.
  • Read/interpret electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation drawings.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair PLC and DCS hardware, software and controls.
  • Diagnose and repair AC/DC motors and control circuits.
  • Maintain MCC and power distribution systems (480/240V).
  • Wire equipment and electrical drops in high voltage areas.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Move and set up equipment as needed.
  • Ensure safe, efficient operations following company policies.

Position Summary: The Instrumentation-Electrical (I&E) Technician diagnoses instrument and electrical systems problems. I&E Technician services, troubleshoots, repairs and/or replaces, aligns, and maintains instrument and electrical instrument systems, system components, motor control circuits, power supplies, and PLCs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting of critical equipment upon failure
  • Troubleshoot AC and DC Electronics
  • Apply Electrical Codes and Standards
  • Read/Interpret Electrical, Electronic, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Instrumentation Drawings, Schematics, and Technical Manuals
  • Install, Troubleshoot, Maintain and Repair PLC and/or DCS Hardware, Software and Controls
  • Diagnose and repair AC & DC Motors and Control Circuits
  • Maintain 480/240 Volt 3 phase MCC and Power Distribution Systems
  • Replace Electrical Control Devices (Limit, Proximity and Photo Switches, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Valves, etc.)
  • Repair Instrumentation and Control Devices (Pressure, Flow, Level Temperature, etc.)
  • Standard electrical installations including bend conduit and pull wire
  • Perform Preventive and Predictive maintenance
  • Move and set up equipment as needed
  • Wire equipment and electrical drops within a high voltage area
  • Install and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic industrial equipment
  • Employees shall work in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner consistent with Company policies, procedures, and established work practices
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in industrial electrical/electronic technology, industrial maintenance or similar certification
  • Five years industrial experience Instrumentation-Electrical Maintenance experience
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation drawings and schematics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs and CNCs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 480 Volt MCC and Power Distribution Systems
  • Basic programming knowledge with the ability to understand code and troubleshooting desired
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics desired
  • Mechanical background to include troubleshooting skills desired
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English required
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proficient computer skills are required to effectively use requisite software applications
  • Able to operate various types of equipment including hand, power, diagnostic, and machine tools
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Requires frequent reaching, twisting, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, climbing and stooping movements
  • Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environment and around heated equipment
  • Ability to wear and work-in required personal protective equipment
  • Participation in the Plant Emergency Response Team is a condition of employment

The hourly rate for this position is $35.00 to $45.00.
