Job description

Maintenance Instrument and Electrical Planner

The position’s responsibilities include every aspect of chemical plant instrument and electrical planning for both preventative and corrective maintenance activities. This position actively supports improving the safety, reliability, and operability of the facility. This position will require a self-starter that can independently develop job plans for distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, motors, and low-voltage power distribution systems. This role works with manufacturing personnel, maintenance personnel, contractors and others to provide high quality job plans for technicians and craftsmen.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan routine and preventive instrument/electrical maintenance jobs to establish accurate job steps and proper manpower utilization using equipment history, maintenance procedures and technical information.
  2. Produce job packages to provide inspection records, parts lists (BOM), procedures and complete information associated with a job.
  3. Produce job estimates for large jobs to assist in decisions within business guidelines.
  4. Procure parts, materials and equipment through the defined procurement workflow in a timely manner that meets the set job priority for scheduling (including expediting for emergency work).
  5. Interface with Purchasing and Stores to resolve issues and barriers that occur in the parts procurement process.
  6. Use the planning/scheduling tools in SAP and Viziya.
  7. Navigate, run reports and enter data in ProCal instrument management system.
  8. Plan and support all instrumentation, analytical, and electrical aspects of ISO and quality management programs to maintain ISO certifications.
  9. Implement corporate changes and directives.
  10. Ensure the safe and reliable operation of the plant by strict adherence to plant procedures and timely completion of all instrument and electrical integrity activities.
  11. Create SAP preventative maintenance plans.
  12. Support the activities of Maintenance Team Managers and Technicians.
  13. Serve as step-up/backup for Electrical Team Manager when needed.
  14. Track and report key-performance-indicators (KPI’s) for electrical and instrumentation.
Required Qualifications
  1. Electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance background.
  2. At least 2 years planning experience preferred.
  3. Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
  4. Strong leadership skills.
  5. Self-starter, able to work with little supervision.
Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  1. 2 years or more in electrical and/or instrumentation planning field.
  2. Ability to develop accurate task list for both preventative and corrective jobs on electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  3. Familiarity with SAP, Viziya, ProCal.
  4. Ability to work with vendors to develop detailed cost estimates for materials and specialty labor support.
  5. Collaboration skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
  6. Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  7. Time management and organizational skills.
  8. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  9. Effective computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  1. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and be able to work in awkward or confining spaces.
  2. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.
  4. Must be physically capable of spending long hours standing and occasionally work in chemical-protected clothing and equipment.
  5. Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical) and work at elevated heights.
  6. Must be able to work in chemical protective clothing and equipment in an outdoor environment.
  7. Must be able to work in a potentially hazardous chemical environment.
  8. Must be “fit for duty.”
