Job summary

Tampa Electric Company in Florida is seeking an Engineer II or III to advance control/process engineering efforts across Energy Supply. The role focuses on design, implementation, and optimization of systems that monitor, alarm, trend, and regulate equipment and processes.

Candidates should have a BS in engineering (ABET-accredited), 4–8 years in heavy industry or utility settings, and knowledge of project engineering or plant maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in heavy industry or utility environments for Eng II; 8 years for Eng III.
• Florida Fundamentals of Engineering exam and Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of controls/process engineering and coordinating outside consultants on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide project lead on assigned projects and provide technical support to the Outage & Project Management team and other Energy Supply personnel.
• Monitor daily work activities of contractors and coordinate with O&PM Construction, plant outage coordinators and site personnel.
• Coordinate comments to consulting engineers and supplier documents; ensure documents are issued, maintained and filed.
• Advise and assist in developing Scope of Works, project schedules, and cost estimates.
• Schedule and facilitate project team meetings to maintain schedules and costs.
• Support Energy Supply plants in identifying and solving O&M problems; augment staff as needed.
