Job summary

Canvas, Inc. is seeking a Hypersonic Aeropropulsion Test Analyst to support the 715th Test Squadron at AEDC, Arnold AFB, TN. The role involves planning, executing, and analyzing wind tunnel and ground tests for hypersonic propulsion systems.

Requirements include a B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred) and 3+ years in aeropropulsion or hypersonic aerodynamics, with strong MATLAB/Python data analysis skills and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field. Master’s preferred.
  • 3+ years in aeropropulsion, wind tunnel testing, or hypersonic aerodynamics.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and engineering software (MATLAB, Python).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and analyze hypersonic aeropropulsion ground tests at AEDC (Arnold Engineering Development Complex).
  • Analyze aerodynamic, thermodynamic, and propulsion data from facilities like APTU.
  • Develop test plans, matrices, and safety packages with engineers and stakeholders.
  • Use data acquisition and post-test tools to evaluate scramjet, ramjet, and high-speed propulsion performance.
  • Generate reports, data briefs, and presentations communicating results and anomalies.
  • Collaborate with facility personnel, government customers, and contractors to meet test objectives.

We are recognized by our customers and industry partners for our ethical standards, world-class technical expertise, and dedication to accomplishing the mission in a responsive, efficient, and affordable manner.Duties:Duties will include, but are not limited to:• Supporting the 715th Test Squadron at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) in the planning, execution, and analysis of hypersonic aeropropulsion ground testing.• Analyzing aerodynamic, thermodynamic, and propulsion data from ground test facilities (such as the Aerodynamic and Propulsion Test Unit - APTU).• Developing comprehensive test plans, test matrices, and safety packages in coordination with facility engineers and program stakeholders.• Utilizing data acquisition systems and post-test data reduction tools to evaluate scramjet, ramjet, and other high-speed propulsion system performance.• Collaborating with test facility personnel, government customers, and prime contractors to ensure test objectives are safely and effectively met.• Generating technical reports, data packages, briefings, and presentations to communicate test results and anomalies to stakeholders.Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a highly related technical field (Master’s degree preferred).• 3+ years of relevant experience in aeropropulsion, wind tunnel testing, or hypersonic aerodynamics.• Proficiency in data analysis and engineering software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or similar).• Familiarity with high-speed/hypersonic propulsion systems and compressible flow dynamics.• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical data clearly.• Prior experience with AEDC test facilities or the 715th Test Squadron is highly desirable.Security Clearance:• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearanceOther Essential Job Functions:• Must be willing to travel up to 10%.About UsFounded in 2007, Canvas connects a passion for going beyond the expected with the knowledge and expertise to deliver what our clients need now and in the future.
