Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Principal Data Center Architect to own the civil, structural, and architectural design of its AI compute facilities. You will lead reference designs, approve deliverables, and drive standardization across a multi-site portfolio with design-build partners and internal MEP teams.

You will influence site selection, ensure code compliance, and optimize for high-density cooling and rigorous timelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years delivering mission-critical facility infrastructure with hyperscale CSA design experience.
• Proven track record as owner's engineer or lead technical authority with external design teams.
• Experience coordinating across MEP and IT infrastructure in fast-paced multi-project environments.

Responsibilities

• Own civil, structural, and architectural reference design standards across Anthropic's data center portfolio.
• Lead front-end test fits, site feasibility studies, and inform site selection and design direction.
• Review CSA deliverables (SD, DD, CD, IFC) and approve drawings, calculations, and reports.
• Integrate CSA design with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and IT teams.
• Drive site and campus planning to maximize compute density and align with IT/operational needs.
• Provide technical oversight during construction and assist commissioning activities.
• Engage design partners and subconsultants; establish qualification and performance standards.
• Maintain facility support area standards and scalable logistics for hyperscale deployments.
• Identify modular construction opportunities to reduce schedule and design risk.
• Coordinate reviews and resolve design conflicts to keep projects on aggressive timelines.
• Travel to project sites globally for design reviews and construction milestones (up to 40%).
