Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital, Inc. is seeking an experienced Hyperbaric RN/Wound Clinician to deliver specialized HBOT and advanced wound care.

You will operate HBOT equipment, assess risks, and collaborate with medical staff to optimize patient outcomes in a fast-paced hospital setting. Applicants must be a Maryland-licensed RN with at least 3 years of adult nursing experience, a wound-care certification preferred, and current BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

  • RN licensed in Maryland with 3+ years adult nursing experience caring for wounds.
  • Active wound-care certification preferred (CWOCN/CWS/WCC).
  • BLS and ACLS required.

Job Summary

The Hyperbaric RN provides care for a specific patient population with various conditions requiring hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT). You will be responsible for operating all ancillary equipment related to HBOT, as well as safety issues to include Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) guidelines, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines, and other pertinent regulatory issues. As a Wound Clinician you will provide quality individualized preventive, supportive wound care to each patient in conjunction with medical staff. This position requires advanced certification.

Example of Essential Functions:

HBOT RN:

  • Activate and operate testing and hyperbaric treatment equipment according to training and established protocols
  • Prepare patients receiving HBOT. This include an assessment so that both physical and patient related risks factors are eliminated or controlled before and during patient’s treatment. Education of procedure details, chamber safety, and ear clearing techniques.
  • Establish a plan of care identifying Risk factors/Safety, Psychosocial factors, Pain, and Nutrition
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations
  • Maintain and perform routine cleansing of the hyperbaric chambers and ancillary equipment to prevent transmission of infection.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, and safety standards at all times
  • Activate and participate with emergency procedures and drills

Wound Clinician RN:

  • Serves as a clinical resource to assist other healthcare providers in management of acute and chronic wounds
  • Educate patients on wound care, infection, and injury prevention
  • Establish a plan of care for healing related to wound, ostomy, and/or continence problem list
  • Perform focused assessments including relevant history to identify risks, and contributive factors inhibiting wound healing
  • Assist with wound care tasks to include digital photos, application of dressings, changing of dressings, and cleaning wounds
  • Create a safe and appropriate discharge plan in coordination with the health care provider and/or other multidisciplinary team members
  • Participate in monitoring quality measures of wound care identifying potential cause(s) of delayed wound healing. Coordinate activities supporting optimal care and appropriate resources

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • Registered Nurse (Bachelor preferred) and licensed in the state of Maryland
  • Minimum of three years adult nursing experience that includes caring for patients with wounds (preferred)
  • Active certification in a nursing wound specialty i.e. CWOCN (preferred), CWS, WCC
  • Or completion of wound certification dependent upon requirements of worked hours for eligibility of taking the exam
  • Or completion of certification dependent upon requirements of worked hours for eligibility of taking the exam
  • BLS certification and ACLS training/certification is required

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

  • _x_ Neonate (0 thru 30 days)
  • _x_ Infant (31 thru 12 months)
  • _x_ Child (13 months thru 12 years)
  • _x_ Adolescent (13 years thru 17 years)
  • _x_ Adult (18 years thru 65 years)
  • _x_ Geriatric (66+ years)

Physical Demands:

Medium Work – Lifting up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 25 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds infrequently or up to 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Ergonomic Risk Factors:

Repetition : Repeating the same motion over and over again places stress on the muscles and tendons. The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated, the speed of the movement, the required force and muscles involved.

Working Conditions:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk: Category A – WILL have exposure to blood or body fluids.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to Department Manager. Also receives supervision from Director.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.

Pay range: Hourly rate $35.02 Min -$52.00 Max
