Job summary

United Smiles Family Dentistry & Orthodontics in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist. You will perform cleanings, X-rays, and preventive care while educating patients and supporting treatment plans.

Responsibilities include medical history reviews, coordinating with the dentist, and strict infection control. Hours are Mon-Thu 9am–5pm and Fri 9am–2pm.

Qualifications

• State Licensed Dental Hygienist
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Proficiency in Patient Management Software
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Ability to work assisted and unassisted hygiene in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care & Preventive Treatment: perform dental cleanings, scaling, root planing, screenings, X-rays, sealants, fluoride; educate patients on oral hygiene.
• Treatment Coordination & Documentation: review medical histories, assist in treatment planning, document findings in patient management software.
• Infection Control & Equipment Care: maintain OSHA, CDC, HIPAA standards; clean and sterilize instruments and rooms.

We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our practice. The ideal candidate is passionate about preventive care, skilled in clinical procedures, and committed to building strong patient relationships. You will play a key role in promoting oral health and supporting the overall treatment plan for each patient.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Preventive Treatment

• Perform dental cleanings (prophylaxis), periodontal scaling, and root planing
• Conduct oral cancer screenings and periodontal charting
• Take and process dental X-rays and digital scans
• Apply sealants, fluoride, and desensitizing agents
• Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and long-term oral hygiene habits
• Provide nutritional and lifestyle guidance related to oral health

Treatment Coordination & Documentation

• Review and update medical histories and patient records
• Collaborate with the dentist on treatment planning
• Document clinical findings accurately in patient management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)

Infection Control & Equipment Care

• Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines
• Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and treatment rooms
