Job summary

Superior Hydrovac is seeking a Hydrovac Operator to perform hydro excavation and utility exposure on a range of projects. You will operate Hydrovac trucks, follow safety protocols, and work with laborers to ensure skill development.

Strong grounding, daily maintenance, and meticulous paperwork are required, with a focus on timely completion and safe operations. Applicants must have a Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements and at least one year of related experience or training, and

Qualifications

• Must possess Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements.

• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and utility locates.

Responsibilities

• Complete hydro excavation projects including utility line exposure and trenching.
• Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
• Supervise Hydrovac Laborers to develop skills.
• Set up and inspect grounding and bonding procedures.
• Complete paperwork properly and on time.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and routine maintenance.
• Carry out daily vacuum excavation tasks.
• Potholing of utilities for HDD work and trenching.
• Expose utilities for new placement and maintenance work.

Hydrovac Operators

Hydrovac Operators are skilled laborers running machinery designed to excavate and expose underground utilities safely. This role requires precision and expertise in equipment operation, safety protocols, and efficient excavation practices.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Responsible for the successful completion of hydro excavation projects including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging
• Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment in a safe and professional manner
• Supervise activities of Hydrovac Laborers in order to ensure employee skill development
• Set up and inspect grounding and/or bonding procedures for Hydrovac operation
• Complete all required paperwork properly and within set time lines
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance
• Performing Required Daily Vacuum Excavation Tasks:
• Potholing Existing Underground Utilities for HDD Work
• Pole Holes, Anchors, and Trench Work for Company Divisions
• Exposing Existing Underground Utilities for New Placement and Maintenance Work

Experience And Education

• Class A CDL Air Brake and Tanker Endorsement is required
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience or training

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
