Job summary

HukariAscendent Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Engineering Hydrologist and Groundwater Modeler to provide remote technical support.

You will perform numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeological analysis, and reporting for LM sites including Fernald, Tuba City, and Monument Valley, coordinating with the site support contractor's technical staff. Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, or engineering.
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling including MODFLOW, PEST, PESTPP-IES, and PESTPP-MOU.
• Expertise in groundwater flow and contaminant transport fundamentals.
• General field characterization experience.
• Knowledge of well drilling, coring/sampling, and monitoring well installation.
• Data acquisition and evaluation experience.
• Understanding of tracer testing implementation and interpretation.
• Knowledge of aquifer testing and analysis.
• Experience with conceptual site model development.
• Expertise in statistics and geostatistics.
• Expertise in 3D visualization and evaluation using EVS.
• Programming and scripting expertise.
• Geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geophysics knowledge.
• Familiarity with remedial design and evaluation.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling using PEST and PESTPP-IES; support annual site environmental reports and provide technical guidance.
• Assist with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling using PESTPP-IES and PESTPP-MOU.
• Assist with groundwater flow and transport modeling, other analyses, and evaluation of groundwater remedies.
• Support other groundwater modeling efforts as needed.
• Complete other hydrogeological analyses and reporting activities as needed.

Job Title: Senior Engineering Hydrologist and Groundwater Modeler

Duration: Part-time, 1 year with potential for extension(s)

The successful candidate will perform numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeological analysis, and reporting for LM sites including Fernald, Tuba City, and Monument Valley, working in coordination with the site support contractor's technical staff.

• Assist with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling using PEST and PESTPP-IES; support preparation of the annual site environmental report and provide technical advice in coordination with other project staff.
• Assist with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling using PESTPP-IES and PESTPP-MOU.
• Assist with groundwater flow and transport modeling, other technical analyses, and evaluation of the groundwater remedy.
• Support other groundwater modeling efforts on an as-needed basis.
• Complete other hydrogeological analyses and reporting activities on an as-needed basis.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, or engineering.
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, including MODFLOW, PEST, PESTPP-IES, and PESTPP-MOU.
• Expertise in groundwater flow and contaminant transport fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOE Office of Legacy Management (LM) sites and programmatic history.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification.
• This is a fully remote position.
